A really enjoyable read

There was a lot of scene setting and character developing in this story, which was fantastic in that I felt I knew Pete and Marla well. However I only just felt as though they were making a genuine connection when we had declarations of love and the book ended. Marla had such depths and such pain - a lost little girl looking for love in the wrong places. I loved how Pete saw the truth of her, and how he started to help her work on loving herself, I just wished we'd had more of them connecting and being open and honest with each other.

If the last 2 chapters had been extended into 8 or 9, with details on Marla working through some of her issues, Pete helping build her self esteem, them actually spending time developing their relationship, along with a few more spankings, this would have easily hit 5 stars. I was so invested in the story, the couple and their relationship.

The build up was excellent, proving that this was written by a talented author. However it felt as though either a word limit was hit, or a deadline was looming, because the ending was just massively rushed. We went from Marla still contemplating throwing a spanner in the works with the wedding invites, to three weeks later and apparently
Spoiler Marla and Pete are now totally in love.
. Don't get me wrong, this is still a good book, one that entertained me and was easy to both sink into and read. It's light on the domestic discipline, with only a couple of spankings that aren't dwelt on in detail, has a good dollop of steam and a well paced plot. A perfect 'lighter' read to pick you up or cleanse your palette.
