Another Jacqueline Wilson book ticked off the list. This was an interesting one because while it was a collection of short stories, some of the characters were ones that had appeared in some of Wilson’s other works so some of them were a nice little continuation of other stories.
They all centre around the idea of children going on an outing of sorts. Whether it is to the beach or on a picnic, these kids all go away from their own lives and spend a bit of time in nature and creating memories with their families.

I've just finished reading this with one of my year 7 reading groups. They all really enjoyed it and desperately want to read more about the individual characters. The short story format worked really well for a reading group and the vocab was a good level for struggling readers (plenty of tricky words for them to practice sounding out, but enough they could already read for the stories to flow).
I think the final story was my favourite and I like that it highlighted the work of Battersea.
