A great new take on Black Widow that stays true to the hero. The art style is incredible, the acrobatics clear, and intrigue badass. Looking forward to what this team writes in continuing this new storyline.

A fast and fairly enjoyable read. Felt like not a lot was happening, like those six issues could have easily been three. The art was pretty, though.

Fast-paced, exciting, well-told - this is a cool, capable version of the character and the story is put together with skill - staying interesting from start to finish and revealing information at just the right moments. It's a tense spy thriller with all the darkness and flash that this character deserves.

I like Natasha. But it seems like it has been quite some time since I read an especially good book of her. And this one is not that. Sure there are hints of story. But mostly its incoherent violence with just a sketch of a story. And not especially good use of side characters. And the Russian characters didn't ring any more true than the western ones. With inconsistent and sometimes not very good art. I was hoping for better.

I've ended up reading a lot of Black Widow comics this year for someone that's not a big Black Widow fan but this one really hit the spot for me. It's action-packed, dynamically-illustrated, tightly-plotted, and Natasha is funny in a very wry way. I like the Black Widow going after a new iteration of the Red Room and her willingness to get her hands a little dirty to do it feels right. Highly recommended.

My Nat is finally back. After reading Black Widow 2014, I was hesitant to read any more modern Black Widow stuff. But I shouldn’t have been, because Mark Waid is the writer for Black Widow 2016, and I’ve heavily enjoyed what I’ve read from him so far. This was a really good starting point to this series, and more of Natalia confronting her past. The bigger look into the red room, and the Headmistress was so so good. And the exploration of Anya the Recluse was also fantastic. I’m giving this 4 stars though, because the first three issues were slow. But I still really enjoyed this, and I heard Bucky appears in the next volume, which I’m very excited for.
