I stopped after triggering content regarding a dog being left in a car.

This book was so painful to read. The main character, after boxing his whole life, is dealing with serious memory loss as a result to all of the hits to his head. He is preparing for his last fight while 1. His dad is in a care facility with declining health, 2. He is attempting to mend a broken relationship with his mom, and 3. He is trying to take care of a newly adopted dog. He is very ill, lonely, and not well-equipped to take care of himself or others … so he just toughs it out no matter how much it hurts. Not an uplifting read, but interesting for sure.

This was a sad, depressing, well written book. I kept waiting for that part of the book where something really bad, almost happens, but at the last second our loved character is saved. This was not that story.
