It’s a very slow burn romance and there is a cheating trope involved. It doesn’t really stand the test of time is what I think the problem was. It’s very 2000s. The book almost feels like it’s written by a man? The woman is like weirdly virginal and keeps making all these horrible mistakes and you can’t really connect with her. Therefore it’s hard to really get into the trope of cheating. It just really makes the whole romance seem icky and you’re not even rooting for them in the end which is the whole point so I cannot recommend. There’s better smut out there for sure that’s not 500 pages long 😬

Definitely true to circa 2012 and the tropes I guess were liked (?) back then. Highly unlikable main character, the writing wasn't really up my alley. Hated the decisions Kiera made, how selfish and indecisive she was, did not really enjoy the relationships. I only liked a few side characters, but the story was nothing groundbreaking. It also dragged so goddamn much, I read it for so long I'm embarrassed. Absolutely not continuing this series.

Huge HUGE red flags for cheating.

If you read and disliked books like Fifty Shades of Grey or Beautiful Disaster.... honey, you ain't seen nothing yet.
