Smooth writing and quite believable dialogues. I also liked that the main focus lies on friendships and not on romantic relationships.
Some of the incidents that drive the story are happening a bit too conveniently, but overall a good debut novel that touches on important topics.

Despite this gripe, this is well-written and an interesting coming-of-age story that just unfortunately didn’t really resonate with me on many points.

This is a book about how hard it is to be a human being sometimes. Especially those early years of adulthood when you haven't quite found yourself yet.
The strange thing is that none of the characters are likeable, but neither are they unlikeable. This is firstly a reflection of all of us all, as I aluded to earlier, but also a reflection of how good the writing is because I felt I knew each of the main players intermety.
I would suggest going into this fairly blind plot wise and letting the story unravel itself before you. However, one important theme is women's reproductive health/rights.
If you like a twisy, turny book about messy relationships, which aren't always romantic, then this one is far you.

I don't remember where I heard this book recommended but I know I kept pushing back my library hold for it, and I'm glad I finally listened to it. So good!
I love a story told from the first person perspective of a woman main character, so that immediately put this book up my alley. Topics of abortion, feminism, friendship, complicated love are all catnip to me too.
The primary plot twist was so perfectly timed. I was so invested in the outcomes for the characters the entire time.
Just a perfect book for me personally, and my first 5⭐ read of 2024.
