A little late to the game of the New 52 but I don't mind because the trades are just coming out and they are a bit cheaper if you wait a while on Comixology. I've read Superman and Green Lantern titles in former years and picked them back up with the New 52. I really like the GLC stories. It's just fun to get off Earth and see some crazy alien and space stories. Fearless delivers on that front. One of my favorite aspects of GLC comics is their full page panels. I love studying them and seeing all the things going on in those single pieces of art. Every comic utilizes them but it is their regular use of the full spreads in GLC that make it stand apart. Guy's and John's characters are spot on as expected. I have peak interest in the role that John keeps getting thrust into--without spoiling--in making difficult decisions. How many more such choices before he snaps? This is a great collected edition. Will continue to pick up future volumes.

Green Lantern is one of those characters that was just kind of /there/ for me. I knew some vague things about the GL Corps. There are many GLs, assigned to different zones of the galaxy. They're essentially space cops. I only knew the names of two of them: Hal Jordan (the member of the Justice League at some points) and John Stewart. I know that there are different colors of Lanterns which mean different things like rage or fear. That's the extent of my knowledge involving that.

This volume gave me a much more thorough introduction to Green Lanterns and what they stand for. The writing is amazing! There's a lot of action & you'll never be bored of the story. The bits about Stewart are so amazing and shows the depth of his character. Meeting Guy Gardner was fun, and I feel that I have learned more about him as an individual rather than just one of the GLs.

A highly recommended read if you've ever wanted to be introduced into the world of Oa!

Of the New 52 reboots, this is absolutely my least favorite, and for two reasons:

1) It comes across as very juvenile, to its detriment. I get the "comics aren't really for adults" thing from time to time, and perhaps Green Lantern Corps are sort of the more kiddie type, but this really just didn't work at all for me in terms of overall tone and story.

2) Even so, there is a good story and good universe here that, if it weren't so stuck on Green Lantern mythology and story, would really be an interesting sci-fi comic. Unfortunately, with all the Lantern stuff, it just feels like an unnecessary spin off.

An unfortunate pass on this one.

I've made it no secret in the past that I love the creative team of Peter J Tomasi and Patrick Gleason and this volume of Green Lantern Corps just makes that more true.

I liked the previous volumes enough but I loved this one. The title really hit it's stride here. Kyle Rayner and Guy Gardener move to OA permanently to be Honor Guards in the Corps, and in the aftermath of the war with the Sinestro Corps they're searching for those leftover and trying to prevent the rings from going out. And putting the prisoners of war away.

I love me some Kyle Rayner as he's my favorite Green Lantern and this title has helped expose me to Guy Gardener who I now like lots more than I did.

This is a fun space adventure that delves deeper into the fears and desires of the characters in a really good way.

Also you'll love BZZD by the end.

5 stars. I recommend if you like Kyle Rayner, or Guy Gardener. Or fun space adventures that get deeper than you thought they would.

I won this as a First Reads giveaway and saved it for my son's birthday. He enjoyed the book for the most part. There are some scenes which he felt were too violent for him.

I've always been a little indifferent to the Corps, but I found this new iteration to be both chaotic and dull.

We discussed this series in our Green Lantern spotlight over on the All the Books Show: https://soundcloud.com/allthebooks/episode-251-green-lantern-is-80-years-young

Not bad. A bit more exaggerated than I normally like, with the occasional bit of cringe-worthy dialogue. The author's done a MUCH better job with Batman & Robin. This is, nevertheless, still a fun, space-operatic, action-packed sci-fi comic.
