A great introduction to a new series! Franki packs up and moves to New Orleans after her personal life takes a hit. Here she meets up with her friend, Veronica, and joins her PI firm. She is also introduced to the wonder that is Glenda!

Franki's first case is helping to clear her client's name, a man who is suspected of strangling of a young woman with a scarf.

This series has it all - Relationship dramas, meddling family members, cases to solve, wacky neighbours and even a voodoo priestess!

This was a fun read and a great introduction to these characters.

Excellent

I have been wanting to read this series for quite some time but other things kept me from it. I am glad that I waited as I can now read all of the books in the series without waiting for the next one to be released. I was completely shocked by ego the killer was in this one. I just didn't see that one coming. I love the characters and the storyline. So exited to read the rest of the series.

Entertaining enough that I kept reading, boring enough that not only did I forget the culprit immediately after reading, I literally couldn't even remember what the book was about the next day. None of the characters, nothing. Not a series to continue.

I enjoyed the plot and setting, but it was very cheesy, and the characters were unbelievable. I hope a real cop would not be that clumsy and ditzy. Also, I don't think it portrays women very well.

great start to a new series. This one had me guessing all the way through and I never figured it out until the end. Franki and Veronica and fun characters and can't wait to see what happens next.

Despite the reading time for this being just under three months I really did enjoy this book. I just kept getting distracted with gaming and other books something that I am working on being better at. I started this series a bit in the middle with the Christmas one, Rosolio Red, first and fell in love with the characters there. After that I knew I had to read the first in the series to see where it all started.

I admired Franki for uprooting her whole life and moving to a new city. Sorry that's scary no matter how old you are, even if your best friend is promising you a job and a place to live since you're leaving behind everything that you know. While her reasons for doing it may not have been the best it was still brave. I simply adore Glenda; she cracked me up in the short story so her in a larger dose was just delightful. Now the mystery took a bit to get into not because it was uninteresting but because there were so many lures thrown out with plenty of red herrings. Ultimately though I think that the person who did it was the most believable out of everyone involved and I hope that isn't too much of a spoiler. I am also looking to others in this series as I really do enjoy this author's voice and the world she creates since I have also read one of her submissions to the Danger Cove series. A great start to a delightful cozy series that is full of unforgettable characters.

Ugh, another Stephanie Plum wannabe. I don't even know why I finished the book. Apparently a tv show is being created based on this series and I really hope it's loosely based!
