Well, that was a ride.

I'm still reeling over the fact that most of theories were correct! Even about
Tatiana's murderer!

Aaaaand DONE. Man, what a ride this series has been. I don't think rating each of the books four stars is entirely accurate. It did get a little jumbled and bogged down towards the end of the series, especially when it got away from the school setting - but it was fun and engaging overall! Obviously, since I finished all six books in one week.

Without spoiling, though, I think the build of book #1 and 2 towards the cliffhanger at the end of #3 was honestly one of the most enjoyable rides in my YA fantasy reading career.

Although the longest, Last Sacrifice could not be much shorter. This final installment of Vampire Academy is simultaneously able to tie up loose ends, weave in aspects of the plot that were previously mere passing comments and leave enough characters open for new plots for Bloodlines. A solid end to a solid ya vampire series - my only regret is not getting to it sooner.

Also - Adrian deserved better.

Damn this somehow was even more garbage than the last one lol. Rose is insufferable most of this book. I don't care if she has this burning need to always be in action, it was so frustrating to see her just flat out refuse to strategize and see the benefits of the plan her friends made. Actually there were a lot of things that made me roll my eyes or want to smack some sense into people.

The ending of this series really struck me because of how many loose ends it left. What happens to Robert? What happens to Sonya and Mikhail? WHAT HAPPENS TO JILL AND ADRIAN? It really does feel like Rose and Lissa got their happy endings with a shit ton of collateral damage and we just dusted off our hands like that's that.

Overall though, kinda a garbage series but very fun to read the chaos lol.

Wow.This was one of the books that completely blew me away.
Where do I start? This book was just perfect. Oh,I'm sorry,it was MUCH MORE than perfect! I loved it! It had everything! Adventure, romance, fights, agony, everything. It was like, every page that I turned, something new happened, something that blew me away.
I have loved Richelle Mead's writing since I read the first book of Vampire Academy series and I knew that this book would be as good as the previous books. But it was better than the other books. It was the best book. Well,in some pages it was perdictable what would happen next but in some other pages,I couldn't imagine what would happen next.
About the characters now. Rose was so brave and able to sacrifice everything for the people she loves.
About Dimitri now...Oh my god,Dimitri. I have fallen in love with him since the first book, because he's just so perfect. His relationship with Rose is just flawless and I love it. They are obviously made for each other and I'm glad that they understood this. The last pages of the book were just perfect. I loved how caring Dimitri was.
For the other characters now. They were all perfect!
The only thing I was sad about was the heartbreak between Andrian and Rose. It shouldn't have happened like that. Andrian got obviously really hurt and the things which said to Rose made me cry, seriously. Even though I didn't want Rose to end up with Andrian but yes it was very sad.
This book was amazing! I just couldn't put it down. I'm so sad, that I finished this book series...I know, that I could read all the books again, but it's not the same reading them for the very first time.
I also recommend this book series to everyone out there. You should read those books, because they will completely blow you away!

Overall, I thought there was a big "telling, not showing" problem. Other characters praised the MC for being wise and mature for her age, for being talented, etc etc, but I found very little actual evidence of this throughout the series. For a character who is supposed to be highly trained, I found her insights and schemes to be lacking.
I found the books repetitive and it frustrated me. Every book contains re-cap information for the previous books that made me roll my eyes and mumble, "I know." I understand this is a common problem, especially for a series, because one never knows which book the reader will pick up first. Personally, I always find it annoying. I do not need to be bashed over the head with information (and for someone starting in the middle of a series, maybe some confusion ought to be there to encourage them to start at the beginning). Every time this happens in a book, I feel like my intelligence and reading comprehension are being called into question.
I did not often find myself surprised by the plots, either. Now and then I was pleasantly surprised, but most of the time I could predict what was coming (or at least guess and be close). The characters seem pretty two-dimensional to me, but that might just be a side-effect of the "telling, not showing" problem.
Lastly, I found the MC primarily dislikable. Besides the lack of realism to her (demonstrating who and what she is instead of telling me), I took issue with the way she didn't seem capable of dealing with any amount of peer pressure (for someone who is supposed to be strong-willed, I thought this was a lapse in character development) to date men she has no interest in, only to eventually hurt them because of her lack of interest. The repetitive obsession with her love interest made me dislike the pairing more than I already did because of the unlikely and mildly concerning foundation which the pairing is based on, which was only compounded upon every time the author reminded me "they understood each other perfectly" or "they worked in perfect synch with each other" instead of showing me that they fit well.
On a whole, I found the books a quick read and was a little disappointed because I've heard great things about the series.
