This is more of a 3.75⭐️ rating* for me but I’m bumping it up to 4 since I really enjoyed the series and was super fun/fast to read.

Was far cheesier than any of the others in the series.

Writing was pretty hit and miss (typical of YA) and continued to insert one too many pop culture references. E.g. When I saw there was a reference to the 2000’s era “the End of Ze World” animated clip it took me out of the world so hard that I felt like I got drop kicked. Had to take a long break after that.

That and this one fell flat for me personally as it lost its steam somewhere from the middle to the end. Felt a bit repetitive too at some points.

My biggest gripe was the conclusion. There were 2 books building up to this and the “answer” to all their problems felt a little too simple. And then bam it was over. Too simple. I felt like we were about to have THE showdown apocalypse style. I was disappointed.

(Spoilers below)
Also, Bambi is still gone. The fact they didn’t figure out a way to get her back is mind-blowing to me?
ALSO! What was the point of meeting the familiars in their human forms? Literally no point.

4.15!

I thought I would've enjoyed this one the most considering how the first half went. It was fast paced and it was going so well but then the second half came. Don't get me wrong it was good even the pacing was good but the length wasn't before I knew it the story was over.

Character and romance loved all three of the main characters and loved who Layla ended up with I just hoped the break up was dealt with better otherwise it's was good.

Plot was fun but prolly the weakest here. I was here only for the characters and they proved to be good enough!!

A very enjoyable series if you are looking for a YA demon fantasy.

I love this series so much. It is definitely one of my faves by JLA. The characters, the plot… just knowing that there is a sequel series that I’ll be reading next month. All are so exciting to me.

Roth is the OG Demon DADDY! He is biker hot and his tattoos come to life!!! Need I say more?

I need other sequel series starring some of my fave characters tho. Danika, Cayman, and Grim would have A+ stories. They just need their 15 minutes of fame! I may get that from the other books. Who knows? I’ll be finding out SOON!

Well, time for the review..
I give this book 3.5 stars. (and this physically hurts me right now to do so because I've never given a Armentrout book well under 4 stars)

To be honest, I expected a little more awesomeness towards the end.
From time to time it became more predictable, which I'm not accustomed to when I'm talking about a Armentrout book. So that disappointed me a bit.
For me, the first and second book were just a little more thrilling, exciting and got more Feels from me even though in this book you finally get that closure you're looking for with Zayna/Layla/Roth.
I think this book was focused to much on the whole romance thing.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVED those Layla/Roth moments for example.

And I mean, ROTH...
ROTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3
“It had always been Roth; from the moment he swaggered into that d- alley, where I'd been unsuccessfully fighting off a demon, it had been him for me. Maybe I'd been too blind to see that after he returned from the pits. Maybe I had been too angry with him after the way he initially acted.”

But I kind of have this feeling that the story line suffered a little because of all the romance in it.
And the ending was a bit of a anti-climax for me.
There was certainly enough action throughout the book, and then to have it end like 'that'..
I knew it was going down like that from the moment I learned the truth of everything,
but I still hoped to get a bit 'more' out of it.
I can't really 'put' my finger on it, but it just was a little 'Mehhh' sometimes.

But despite the sometimes predictable outcomes and the 'Mehh' moments,
you still get a LOT of things that makes everything worth it.
The humor, the heartbreaking stuff, the romance, the sexy stuff, the action.
It's still all there and you still Feel it all and cry, laugh and love like in the first two books.
A couple of new things were added which I really liked!!!!
And god, I'm just in LOVE with all the familiars hihi
I would give up a kidney to have my own Bambi/one of the kittens/Thumper/Robin

Considering the way the story developed throughout book 1 and 2;
I just was expecting this book to be a bit 'more' then it turned out to be in the end.

But despite that and by reviewing this trilogy as a whole,
I would definitely Highly recommend this book series to my friends and followers.
It contains everything I expected from a Armentrout book;
original
romantic
sexy
thrilling
action packed
great characters
and just a great read from beginning to end.

I LOVED every second of it!!
I feel bad to say goodbye to the characters.
I'd gladly read at least one more book to follow up on this one.

Not as bad as book 2 but not as fun as book 1. This could have been cut down and honestly included in book 2 but I get it—this time period basically demanded YA trilogies.

What I liked:
-FMC make clear her desired relationship with the second in the love triangle relatively quick in the book and there was no weird begging on his part, just sadness and acceptance
-FMC did things instead of letting other people handle everything
-FMC makes decision to have sex and is fine with it, which is good representation IMO and a great response to Twilight

What I didn’t like:
-Corny writing continues (it is YA though)
-Shortie continued (but was lesser than book 2 thank god)
-The plot finished and then there was ~50 more pages of follow up, mostly of making out
-FMC isn’t just special, she’s actually SUPER SPECIAL! It’s like an anime power upgrade tbh
-“Actually, your distant and selfish mom loves you!!” Maybe not the best twist here. I thought FMC would have to make her own sacrifice to make her own way (like giving up the warden part of her or something!), but instead it was her mom

Would I let my teen read it? Yes, if they are over 14. The FMC actually isn’t bad for a YA book. Would I read it again? Nah, I think once was fine.

This whole series was so fulfilling and such a great story. Roth and Layla!!!!! No words for them. I loved every single character in each book, and the ending was everything I hoped for. I am now obsessed with JLA, so I cannot wait to read From Blood and Ash!!

I’m so heartbroken this series is over. I loved these books so so much. It’s impossible for JLA to write a bad book.

I love these characters. Layla’s progression throughout the books was so enjoyable to watch. I was great to watch her gain self-confidence and reach her true potential.

The love triangle was definitely more common in this book. However, the dreaded decision Layla has to make occurs fairly early on in the book. That made me happy because it didn’t feel dragged out. It allowed the relationship with the chosen hero to revolve throughout the book.

I do wish we saw more of Stacey in this book because she’s a huge part of Layla’s human life. If she wasn’t written into any of the books, I don’t think her missing would make any difference. Which is a shame because she’s such a funny character. I feel like everyone would enjoy the story more if she had a bigger part to play.

My main criticism would be that the ending felt very anticlimactic. I can't say too much because I don't want to give away any spoilers, but it just left me feeling a little flat. Like is that it? Both the first two books ended up on massive cliffhangers so I think I was expecting abit more.

Overall though I love this series! I would 100% recommend you pick these books up. Just make sure you have the next one available before finishing because the cliffhangers are intense.
