A beautiful story with beautiful art. The message behind the story with the black snake and oil pipelines is truly moving. Fans of the Lorax, indigenous folklore, or environmental activists starting a family should pick this up.

A call to action to protect our earth and our water. This book won the Caldecott Award this year for good reason.

I'm very excited to teach this book to my students, either for a unit on Native American literature or a unit on Conservation! It has gorgeous illustrations that really add to the message of the story and is a good starting off point to discuss the impact of pollution and corporate greed.
