I was sent a free ARC of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review of the book.

This book is the second in the Zane series, which is a series that focuses on the Zane siblings; Stellan, Dylan and Lennon, who run a successful business that they set up together. This book follows on from where the previous book left off, only this book is from Dylan Zane and Riley Daniels perspective. Without giving away to many spoilers we see even more dark secrets revealed from both of these characters pasts, which draws these two closer together. We also see heartache, mystery and the usual erotic sex scenes that I’ve come to expect when reading J. L. Leslie books.

I really enjoyed this book so much more than I did the first one. The relationship between the two main characters, Dylan and Riley was one of the strongest points of this book, as their relationship came across very realistic. Even the arguments they had seemed like arguments that everyday normal couples would have, which was great for the development of their characters. Their relationship wasn't rushed and wasn't an immediate "Oh my God I love you!" 10 pages in. It took time and was developed correctly, in my opinion, and they even started out hating each other in the end of the first book and the beginning of this book. The way that the relationship was developed slowly and over time was another reason why I'm giving this book 5 stars, while the first book only had 4 stars.

I didn’t like the epilogue as that one part of the book seemed completely out of Dylans character and seemed forced for an overly happy ending that was just not needed, but that could just be my opinion. There were scenes that just made me laugh and I would definitely re read this book as it's an easy and enjoyable read, with some mystery, some sex and romance and so much more, that can all be read in just one sitting. I really can't wait for book 3!!.

I definitely recommend reading this, even if you don’t read the first one. Beware that there are some sex scenes in this book also!.

Honestly, I didn’t like this book as much as I did the first book. Dylan is one of the biggest jerks. Especially to Riley, and for no reason. It’s like that schoolyard mentality that the guy must like you if he’s a big jerk to you. Uhm, no.

In the previous book, Riley had befriended Wren after a situation arose with one of Wren’s special needs students. As a case worker dealing in fostering children and child welfare, I guess that rubbed Dylan the wrong way. But honestly, he pretty much judged her based on his own issues in the past.

The best part of this was getting to see how Wren and Stellan were getting on in their marriage.

But if it was I dealing with Dylan, I’d have hoofed him out onto the street for his behaviour. Rude much!

Although in the end, he learned that valuable lesson that you don’t know how much you love someone until they’re gone. Once he fell in love, Dylan was a bit more tolerable.
