2024 Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

“I think people make themselves beautiful. I think everything on our outside is a line sketch, and whatever’s on the inside blows those lines into three dimensions.”
-K.D. Edwards, The Last Sun

What was my favorite aspect of the story?
As much as I loved Rune's point of view and interactions with the other characters, I also enjoyed reading about Addam and Quinn's relationship.

My overall takeaway and favorites?
This was a reread of a series that I've been wanting to finish since 2020 it's not even a series that I enjoyed at the time it just caught my eye and it's been on my mind ever since. I was going to read the last book to get it "over with", but I decided to start from the beginning. I'm so glad I gave it another chance. The first time I read this I didn't give the uniqueness and imaginary plot enough credit. I just love Rune's relationship with the characters. Great story.

Would I recommend?
Yes, however if you see this is a mxm story don't be fooled the relationship is not the focus of the story. If you're looking for a heavy fantasy/ Sci-Fi story with a lot of brotherly banter, then I would highly recommend.

idk i just kept waiting for Brand to be as funny as everyone said he was, i didn't care for the characters much, the world building was just too much information at once, the action scenes were good but the cast of characters just weren't it for me...

I love a story where the main character has to scrounge to get by. Just a nice balance of good old fashioned resource management. But on the whole, this is a really solid urban fantasy. There’s lots of fun banter between all the characters and it has a really cool magic system. This definitely feels like the setup to a larger story as the world of New Atlantis feels barely tapped into by the end and there’s many different plot lines that get setup in the book’s final pages.
