Interesting world building and I like the characters and plot. But the infrequent memories and discussion of sexual violence against a 15 yo really pulled me out of the book. Just not for me

I started out not liking this book for being too edgy for my personal taste, and finished up disliking it because of the lack of conclusion. From the beginning I felt like I was starting in the middle of something and missing context, and I didn't get satisfactory answers by reading on. There was even a prophecy--I love a good prophecy--that only about 1/3 of it happens in the story. There's an interesting story in this world and this premise, but I'm not convinced it's the one I just read.

Not my cup of tea -- I feel like I never got fully grounded in the world, at least not enough to feel like I wanted to know it better. Like stale popcorn: I'd keep eating it if nothing else was around, I guess, but I wasn't exactly excited about it. Maybe I'm just not the target audience here. Maybe I just wanted the tarot to have more of an influence.

A good read with likeable characters. The mystery is well constructed and the action sequences are well executed.

Took me a second as the world was slowly revealed, but once it clicked, I couldn't put the book down. I found the magic system fascinating and can't wait to learn more.

Adored the friendship between Brand and Rune. Their banter is top notch. The book also fully fleshed out the side characters.

I am very much looking forward to Addam courting Rune.

I've immediately picked up the second book from the library.

This book is a very clear example to me that sometimes you just need to take some time before reading a book.

I tried reading this when it was relatively new, and my brain just didn't connect with it at all.. and yet, this time around it's hitting all my likes, and I've completely fallen in love with the characters!

the book is really well written and I'm having a grand time with them. I definitely see myself rereading them when the next books come out!
