This is one of the first biographies I've read and I could not put it down. It was such a page turner. The part about his childhood fascinated me the most. However, as it progressed and got to the part about his rockstart lifestyle, sometimes I felt it some of his experiences with fans/groupies/friends were a little far fetched. Definately a must-read notheless.

I have always been fascinated by how intelligent and interesting Brian Warner is. I really enjoyed the way he told his story. The only thing that I didn’t enjoy was the second half seemed to slow down a lot and I found myself either not paying attention, or skimming pages.

2 1/2 to 3 stars. About what you'd expect. Some parts were interesting (his childhood, meetings with Anton LaVey, working on the albums) but the drugs and what he did on them got a bit repulsive and/or repetitive. I can't help thinking there's something missing here between childhood and his family's move to Florida... Something he isn't telling us.

Okay, so it took me forever to finish this book because I was fascinated and yet disturbed by this book. I am not sure what to think of this.

I must confess that this book is an addictive page-turner. I couldn't put it down once I've started it and I wasn't even listening to Marilyn Manson's music at that time.
Actually, I've never had any opinion about him but after reading this book Brian Warner went from 0 to 100 in my eyes. Yes, he seems misogynist and in regards to women he has the mind of a teenager, but nonetheless he is an intelligent, open-minded person with an incredible talent.
This makes me think of the saying "Never judge a book by its cover".
Marilyn Manson has a strong and logical point for everything he did (I'm referring more to the Satanism topic here) and how he incorporated his beliefs in his art.
I will rate this book 5 stars, because not only that I would read it again, anytime, because of its writing style, but also because after putting it down I became a huge admirer of the man whose story is written.

One of my favourite quotes of the book, that just came to my mind, would be:
"I wasn't born with enough middle fingers"

Marilyn Manson has been a controversial figure since he burst onto the music scene. I personally love his voice and music, which is why I bought this book to read. I always thought that the shocking things that he did were just theatrical to his musical persona...but I think he really has some disturbing behavior. I do not like the Nazi imagery at all, and the recent allegations that have been in the press from former girlfriends and wives are something that one cannot ignore. The one thing that people can say about Manson is that he has never really tried to hide what he was. He is always right out there for everyone to see, as weird and abusive as it may be. The book wasn't terribly well written, but delving into the personality of Marilyn Manson was an interesting experience.
