Oh I think it's actually bad. It attempts to do some epic style storytelling, but it never gets there. It's a run of the mill super hero story draped in Norse Mythology. It tries to shortcut its way to feeling and misses the mark every single time.

Really surprised at how much I enjoyed it. The first half was really fast paced and action packed whereas the latter half was much more philosophical which didn't interest me as much but was still fun to read. I know this fits into a much larger series and also works into the Avengers Disassembled event but it works really well as a stand-alone. You could read this on its own and still be very satisfied with how it ended.

I might have enjoyed it more due to all my newfound Norse knowledge thanks to the kids being super into Magnus Chase.

Oh, Thor. You and your human-god internal pulls will be the death of everyone. Literally. Even Loki's disembodied head is yelling at you for acting too much like a human hero with a death wish.
Then again, when the alternative is Loki remaking the universe in his own image and killing everyone you love, I suppose you have to do something. At least there's some admission here about how Odin was a decent father to Thor and a shitty one to Loki -- how Frigga is the real parent to them both.
And one-armed Sif is still a boss ass bitch.

Ridiculous storyline, but pretty fun superhero art style.
But then again, I've never read much Thor, other than that featured in Essential Avengers, vol 1; so I could very well be missing something.

Not awful.
Not great.

Could have done with less eye-plucking, and I know it's petty but I just hate the curly all-speak font SO MUCH. Making comics out of Norse mythology is weird, and this storyline was not very interesting, if I'm honest. I like how Thor decides to adopt a kid but then never bothers to call him anything other than "boy", and then RIPS LOKI'S HEAD OFF and carries it around by the ponytail. The last page is goddamn gorgeous, though.
