I love Deadpool.
The opening storyline with Logan was a bit silly, only because they basically snark at each other while trying to kill one another for like four issues before there's actual plot. And yet, a wild Bucky Barnes appears in there, so that's lovely.
The rest of the collection is typical wild Wade shenanigans, of which I am always fond.

Daken! This isn't the best Deadpool ever, but it's pretty hard to go wrong with him.

I enjoyed reading this it was more or less a continuous story over all the issues in the collection
what was frustrating though was the art style would change between issues so for example black window would not always look the same
which I found a little hard to know who was who between issues but overall a great read

I give it 3 stars due to this and the speed of reading this means it may not be worth it for some people

I never read Deadpool. Never. A joke-y psychotic killer was never my bag. I think I expected it to be gory as all get out. My tolerance for gore is set pretty low. Then the Deadpool movie made a zillion dollars in twenty minutes, and got strong reviews for a joke-y psychotic killer/hero. My local comic store suggested I start with the Daniel Way stuff. (Congrats, Disney Marketing, your plans worked perfectly! )

Ok, first its funny enough. Daniel Way has the character down, and did a very nice job. The art is very good. Nice clean style. Nowhere near as gore-y as I thought.

But the most interesting reaction I had was I think similar to anyone who jumps into comics in this blockbuster movie age. I wanted to read Deadpool from the beginning, or at least start with the origin, but my comic store steered me this way, saying it was pretty good stuff, and there is four single spaced pages in the back giving you a synopsis. That synopsis is bonkers.

Deadpool first appeared, according to Wikipedia, in the early 1990s. I was overwhelmed by a four page synopsis that had more stops and starts and ret-cons, and presumed dead characters brought back that my eyes glazed over after three quarters of a page. I can't imagine someone who saw, say, Batman vs. Superman Dawn of Justice, wanting to jump into Batman, or Superman, or Wonder Woman, or even Darkseid, attempting to do the same thing and running away. Fast. Darkseid, again according the Wikipedia, is only twenty years older than Deadpool; early 1970s.

I guess I forgot that for all the heroes, and anti-heroes, in comics, its mostly a second act. (The first act is the origin. The third act is a resolution.) None of them are ever going to permanently die.

Am I going to read more Deadpool? Probably. Am I racing to get more? No. At some point I will try out comedian Brian Posehn's run on Deadpool.

A good introduction to Deadpool, who I'd known more as a cosplay character or ubiquitous meme. I preferred the funnier elements to the dark elements, as usual... and there were times where Deadpool skewed towards darker/more twisted than I like. Not sure I'll read more solo Deadpool, but I'd read more where he's a foil for another comic franchise and more about the one-liners.

Then: The Skrulls have infiltrated Earth, but nobody warned them about Deadpool! The invaders replicate Deadpool's healing factor in a new generation of Super-Skrulls - but why is Deadpool himself leading this brigade against Earth? And when Norman Osborn double-crosses Deadpool, the maniacal merc unleashes a full-on assault against Avengers Tower! Norman must pull out all the stops - and that means deploying his new team of bloodthirsty, black-ops Thunderbolts! COLLECTING: WOLVERINE: ORIGINS 21-25, DEADPOOL (2008) 1-12, THUNDERBOLTS 130-131 and DEADPOOL SAGA

Come on! This is Deadpool! Of course it’s going to be awesome! :D I’ve only seen the movie, which I LOVED, so the comics in this collection make for a great read for me. Now I want to read all Marvel comics. I know that’s an impossible task. There are so many! But maybe some day.

Anyway, the separate storylines are great with lots of Deadpool humor and I love the artwork. I don’t know what else to say other than I will be moving on to Vol 2 now. Thankyouverymuch.
