Tony Stark, Engineer. Bruce Banner, Scientist. I kind of like the focus Marvel is making on smart people being smart, rather than just being super. And this one, the city of the future but done with planning and simulations is pretty good. Of course it falls apart in a superhero way but not completely. And Arno Stark may be sticking around.

So much of the rating for this book depends upon where the next volume goes. The Mandarin rings seeking people out to take them over and attempt to destroy Tony Stark feels way, way too much like Green Lantern. Tony still has his trademark humor, but there is a mystery at the end of the volume as to who is controlling the rings. And if this is developed well, it could redeem this volume a bit more.

This run had a lot of ups and downs. There's lots of stuff here I didn't like, but it got better as it went.

Since I've only started reading Iron Man with this series, I was a bit behind concerning some of the mythos (the Mandarin rings, mainly), though I did manage to follow what was happening (and found it quite interesting). I'm still not sure about the "Stark parentage" storyline, but I'm willing to go along with it.

Also : more Pepper and more Rhodes, please.
