 Reconsidering:
You know what? I do know Archer deserve the best and the author didn't lay out the story nicely. So, I'm going to give this one star. The hype was blinding. Y'all should read the 1-star review to open your eyes to how toxic things are in this book.

First Review:
Rating: 4 stars

"...Archer Hale had taught himself an entire language, but hadn't had a single person to talk to."

Archer had a lesser POV than Bree, but I cared more about him. The amount of my heart breaking for Archer was too much. The pain and trauma he suffered from when he was seven until twenty-three years old were the reason that made this book emotional. Archer isolated himself because of fear of the unknown world outside, and Archer doesn't believe he deserves to live or that anyone cares at all the way Bree did. I'm glad he made the right decision that the town isn't the right place to heal.

The amount of hate I have for specific characters knows no bounds (it includes our main character, Bree).

Does Travis Hale have a book about him? Yeah, but I have no intention of reading that at all. He's a walking red flag that Mia Sheridan tried so hard to redeem but still is a manipulative a$$h0le. Is the book about him getting a redemption arc? I do not care at all. His parents played a role for him to hate Archer, feel unwanted, unlovable and more, but these choices are his own:
  • "Bree Prescott," he said, his eyes lowering to my breasts for a flash before returning to my face.
  • ...I could see him leaning back on his stool to check on my ass as I walked away.

First, why would Bree allow that when she had already noticed those encounters? Second, Travis is manipulative and insensitive a$$h0le to Archer when he clearly doesn't know much about the outside world because of his disability and trauma. Third, I know people have done something toxic to someone, and they regret it and then a sudden redemption while the victim is still suffering. That's what he did to Archer for years until Bree came. Fourth, Travis is literally flirting with a married woman while her husband is there. They all see that as a joke. I see it as disrespect.

I swear, if Archer isn't here, this book will get 1 star. Even Victoria Hale didn't get what she deserved. That selfish b1tch. This book should have been shorter and focused only on Archer. Lastly, the way Bree always says something like "I thought I would also not see the light but," or something whenever Archer opens up was dumb. Are you f*cking pressuring him? He's talking about himself for the first time, yet you're going to make it about you as if you two have the same trauma or emotional capacity? The guy clearly doesn't need those bullsh1t words, yet here we are.

With all those, why still give it a four stars rating? It is because Archer deserves it. He deserves everything and the best that the author won't give him.

TW: HP reference (one scene), PTSD, Trauma, Grief, Car Accident, Panic Attack, Animal Cruelty (one scene), Anxiety, Sexual Assault, Mentions of Rape, Gun Violence, and Sexually Explicit Scenes  (search it up for more specifics or correct TW as mine is what I thought is TW while I read it)
