So this was my second attempt at listening to this and the fact remains that its just not as good as its predecessors in the series. It's like the book aged with Watson and half the exciting moments are made less so by the tone in which he tells of them. The entire book has this overlying feeling of hopelessness that makes it hard and depressing to listen to. Honestly the book doesn't even begin to get all that interesting until they reach the island in the final scenes. The best part of the book is Lovegrove's author and publisher afterwards. It's not a terrible book but also not one I see myself reading again.

This was a fun listen and end to this trilogy. I’m so glad I didn’t stop with the second book and listened to this one. I enjoyed the story and the conclusion, all three of them;)

This series is completely worth it if you’re a fan of Arthur Conan Doyle &/or H.P. Lovecraft. The whole idea of “The Cthuhlu Casefiles” & having Dr. John Watson write them as the real adventures of Sherlock Holmes & Dr. Watson makes it better.

An excellent finish to the trilogy. I'll say no more: Cthulhu might be listening.

This book gave me everything I could want in this conclusion. This series is god tier for me, I just love it so much. Taking the world of Sherlock Holmes and combining it with the mythos of Lovecraft couldn't be done a better way, in my opinion. I'm honestly sad that the series isn't longer and there are no more books in this world for me to read.

Totally think you should read this series if you're a fan of the Sherlock books or cosmic horror stories. Even if you haven't read any of Conan Doyle or Lovecraft's work, I think you can still enjoy this series. Cheers.

I wanted to love this series more. But only "Really Really Enjoying It" will have to suffice? The facet I want to concentrate on is Holmes as potential cult leader. Yes, this man with the intense, and analytical, mind would very much be the best magic user this side of Moriarty, and Lovegrove aimed the whole thing in that direction. Fun stuff.
