This is a whimsical delight for those of us who appreciate the darkness and somber moments in life. Neil Gaiman is one of my favorites so I am certainly biased, however, this book gives a touching look at chosen family and doing the best you can given the circumstances. Nobody Owens is a protagonist you root for.

This book was unexpected. I went into it knowing nothing, apart from that it was written by Neil Gaiman, only assuming that a significant in some way. My only concrete expectation was that it would enjoy it, as I have almost all of Neil Gaiman's other books. That expectation was definitely met, and I will be re-reading this in the future. I am a little surprised that this is considered a children's book, it handles some very difficult topics, opening with a description of a man murdering two parents and a child. Thankfully, the murders themselves aren't described, just the moments after the final one. That said, it was an incredibly enjoyable book, following the childhood of a boy growing up in a graveyard with an adoptive family who are all either dead, or on the border between (I took that to mean a vampire). Ironically, I found the ghosts to be more fleshed out than the living characters of various other books by different authors, truly a testament to Gaiman's writing.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I dove into "The Graveyard Book" audiobook yesterday, and I emerged today with a heart full of wonder and a five-star rating in tow. Neil Gaiman's enchanting tale kept me captivated from start to finish, weaving a spellbinding narrative that felt like a warm embrace. 🌟

From the very beginning, I was drawn into this world of mystery and magic. Gaiman's storytelling is so beautifully endearing that I knew I was in for a treat. As I journeyed alongside Nobody Owens, affectionately known as Bod, I found myself deeply invested in his growth and adventures. 📖

What I adored most was how the story came full circle, allowing me to witness Bod's evolution from a curious child to a courageous young man. Each character, from the ghosts to the living, won my heart with their unique quirks and wisdom. But it was Bod himself who stole the show—my sweet little potato pie, as I affectionately dubbed him. His kindness and intelligence were truly admirable, yet it was his hint of vengefulness that added depth to his character—a trait that I surprisingly found myself drawn to. 💖

The graveyard's inhabitants, with their colorful personalities and poignant life advice, added layers of richness to the narrative. I delighted in every tale from their past lives, each one contributing to the tapestry of Bod's upbringing. 👻🌿

"The Graveyard Book" is not just a story; it's an experience—a journey that will stay with me long after the final chapter. Neil Gaiman's masterful prose and the impeccable narration in the audiobook form breathed life into this tale, making it an absolute delight to immerse myself in. 🎙️

In conclusion, if Neil Gaiman were to pen another novel centered around Nobody Owens, I would eagerly devour it without hesitation. "The Graveyard Book" has firmly secured its place as one of my all-time favorites, earning a well-deserved five-star rating and a permanent spot on my bookshelf. 📚

WOW. I know Neil Gaiman is a great writer so I was expecting to enjoy this book, but I wasn't expecting to love it so much and so intensely. It was all good but the last two chapters are what brought it up to five stars for me. A lot of it did feel like a story written for kids/young adults (as it was), but it felt like the book grew as the main character grew in such a beautiful way. Also, as someone who loves "spooky season" but does not love horror or gore, this was a perfect level of spooky.

4.5 stars; For a book that starts off with a triple homicide, it is surprisingly sweet and funny. The sole survivor of the family who gets murdered is Bod, a baby who essentially gets adopted by the ghosts of a cemetery. It’s stated that it takes a graveyard to raise a child and it was very sweet to see just how true it was. I loved all the characters very much, but especially Bod and Silas’ relationship, and seeing how they all leave an impact throughout various parts of Bod’s life. The greedy part of me wishes I could’ve read more anecdotes on Bod’s life in the graveyard, but realistically I think the amount written was just right.

I listened to the audiobook read by Neil Gaiman himself (on youtube) and he was fantastic and so funny. This has become one of my favorite audiobooks.

I have loved reading more of Gaiman's catalog recently.  The wit, and cozy feeling fo this story was fantastic.  He has a way of writing these stories that pulls you in and lulls you into a welcomed trance.

This story is about Bod. Short for Nobody Owens. A Strange man killed his family when he was a baby and he was raised by the ghosts in a graveyard. He also has a mysterious guardian.  As we watch him grow, we learnore about the graveyard, these amazing characters, his guardian,  and all of the interesting dealings of the worlds we cannot see as the living.

I love the way Gaiman pulls things together in his novels. Every detail makes sense. Nothing is there that doesn't need to be. Everything is in it's place. Every character has their distinct voice and purpose.  I enjoy his writing SO MUCH. If you haven't read his books I highly recommend starting with this YA novel or my favorite,  Neverwhere.
