I love this series so much. It’s absolutely like taking a trip to a little town in coastal Maine. So much delicious traditional Maine food described in every chapter (lots of lobster and seafood dishes, and desserts with blueberries). This book had an interesting plotline with lobstermen because the murder in the book took place on a lobster boat. Also, the main character Julia Snowden has to decide whether she wants to stay in her little coastal town where the economy is depressed and everyone has to work three part time jobs to make it, or return to New York City, where she had a big job in finance. In Maine, she’ll be with her family and new boyfriend, Chris. In NYC, things in some ways will be easier. (Of course, then we don’t get any more books, so I like Maine’s chances!) As we get deeper into the book, the plot just gets twistier, involving the depressed economy, competing restaurants and what means struggling lobstermen may have to turn to in order to make ends meet. This was well plotted and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Woohoo for less whining by Maggie. Great advancements in the relationships. This one had a very interesting crime that really showed us more about the area and the industry.

Murder has come to town yet again in the third installment of the Maine Clambake mysteries. This time, it's Julia's brother in law who finds himself accused of murdering self proclaimed "mussel King", David Thwing, who had made clear his intentions on myself muscling in on the family Clambake business with his own seafood restaurant. Now Julia will have to find the real killer, while at the same time trying to figure out where her own life - professional and personal- is heading as the business closes down for the season.
Another exciting read filled with twists, turns and tasty seafood recipes!

Julia, Chris, Sonny, Livvie, Gus and the others are back again for another installment. David Thwing, the mussel king, is found dead under a boat and Julia has to help (again, go figure) solve the mystery. Really enjoying the characters, the cozy mysteries keep me guessing, and I'm loving the plots and character development. I like the pacing of these books, and have already checked the next out from Hoopla to keep going with the series, two thumbs up.

As a testament to how much I enjoy this cozy mystery series, when my county library co-op system managed to lose the single copy they had of this book, I was forced to purchase my own copy, because there was no chance I was either giving up on this series or skipping a book and continuing past it. This paper-and-ink girl even tolerated reading the e-version on my iPad's Kindle app. And despite all the obstacles, it was worth it. I really love each of the characters and the development of their personal stories. There were multiple mysteries, well interwoven, that drew a sound conclusion. I didn't figure it all out until just as Julia was working it out for herself. My one and only complaint is that RED SOX GAMES DO NOT GO INTO OVERTIME. C'mon, editors. Baseball games go into extra innings. If you're going to get so much about living in New England right, it's a travesty to get something like that so very, very wrong! (I didn't allow my horror to affect my rating for this book, though.) I can't wait to see what's next for Julia, Chris, Quentin, and the Snowden Family Clambake gang.
