These books make me cringe but I like them. I don’t understand.

I didn’t expect to love Colton, but my god, I do.

I didn’t expect the country star to be the one pining after a woman who has so much emotional baggage she believes she’s not worthy of love.

I didn’t expect Colton to break down her walls and be the one person she could rely on.

I loved them individually, but I loved them so much more together. And I loved the twists and turns Adams placed in this story. There are some phenomenal villains to hate in this book, and I’m proud of Colton for the actions he took to protect her.

This series is wonderful, but this particular book warmed my heart, had me on the edge of my seat, and kept me wanting so much more. I HATED seeing it end.

this series, man, got me in a chokehold, devoured it in one sweep holy cow.

the thing is while i can see how people get annoyed with gretchen, i understand why she's like that. she's just a walking ball of childhood trauma you know? It's also because this is the reverse grumpy sunshine het trope.

i too wanna kick Evan's face in colton, get in fucking line. he just exudes psychopathic behavior

the sort of resolution with the company was left hanging and i desperately need an update on it but whatever they got together in the end. really formulaic, this series but it's just that good

I'm curious if there's ever gonna be a next book so we'll see, and I'm gonna be here lining up for that shit

I’m so obsessed with this series, and this is an excellent addition. I loved this more than I expected to considering it’s the 5th book of the Bromance Book Club, and you’d think I get tired of these books (but I’m definitely not lol)

Highlights:
• Reverse grumpy x sunshine
• Opposites attract
• Found family

I can’t think of any outstanding lowlights! The one moment I had where I was liking what the hero of the story was doing, the members of the book club checked him and put him in his place, so it was all for the plot lol.

Lyssa Kay Adams, you are incredible!!

Gawd! This is the kind of book that makes me want to know if the author cheers out loud for her characters as she writes them! The plot is so layered and beyond what anyone who doesn't know and appreciate the genre (I include myself here) All the tropes are there. You know what will happen, but instead of being predictable, it is so so so satisfying.

"The grumpy one meets the sunshiny one" works so well here. Colton is a country music star from humble beginnings. Gretchen comes from an uber-wealthy whiskey-making family. She is a serious lawyer working mostly pro-bono, advocating for immigrants. Colton's family is warm and loving, and Gretchen's is anything but. The opposing nature of their fears and needs had me rooting for these two from page one!

I appreciated how the conflicts and the "act two break up" were about the characters understanding themselves better.

This novel is "open-door" and spicy AF. Put the earbuds in if you are listening on audio.

This is the best romance series ever! Granted, this is the only romance series I have ever read, but I'm pretty confident, in my opinion. The whole meta-structure of the books is genius. There is always a book within a book, and I love how they play off each other. The plot and characters teach the values and virtues of the genre, and with each book I read, I come away with more appreciation for Romance.

Another great book from this series. This is my go-to lighthearted series. While not perfect, it makes me feel food, which is good enough for me.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: Deadpool for Romance Novels.

This story is not a Christmas story, sure, it takes place during Christmas, but it's really about
Spoiler a lot probably, I'm only making this joke because it was made like twelve times
.

I liked Colton, I wish we got a bit more of his backstory. I understand that the story is more about Gretchen but come on. I need more of my boys. Give me something to carry like a torch to say "THIS IS WHY I LOVE HIM" but he kinda doesn't have that one thing or that one moment. Aside from the "Grande" gesture at the end that was actually at least 20% personal.

(I just reread that paragraph and realized how wrong it was.)

Okay, I'm remembering the book more now. Yes, yes. Punching douchebags in the face is a valid reason to love our little pacifist. But the ending when he realized he fucked up? Chef's kiss.
