Tezuka is so good. not that much happens in this first and preliminary book of the BUDDHA octet. You could probably condense the story into a few thousand words. Siddhartha is only just a baby at the end. But just rich and natural graphic narrative-making, humor, casual nudity. Nice translation, too, although it might not age beautifully. Can't for the next seven books of this.

Exceptional start to Tezuka's take of Buddha, including cameos by some of his most well-known characters.

Well, I'm on book 6, but I'm just going to clump them all under this review. This is really well-written, and overall just a fantastic book. I'm learning, too. :)

Enjoyable start to this series. More humorous than expected. Will continue with the next installment.

All 8 of these are amazing, a great combination of looney tunes style characacters and highly detailed spreads, along the line of a morandi. Character development is really strong throughout too.

Not quite sure of the date, reusing my comments from volume 2... Excellent. Fascinating, beautiful. I can imagine the cartoony characters might take a little getting used to, particularly with the juxtaposition with the beautiful, beautiful detailed backgrounds. But, hey, get used to it. Personally I could have done with a few fewer of the Asterixy jokes, but I can deal. Really looking forward to all the remaining volumes.
