This was sweet and heartwarming and messy all at the same time. I didn’t like some of the things that happened, but I couldn’t help but love this story as a whole. I felt so connected to these characters and shed a few tears. The Summer lake setting was comforting and felt nostalgic even though I’ve only been to a lake once.

Carley Fortune’s writing style reminds me of Emily Henry, one of my favorite authors. This is her debut book which is impressive. I can’t wait for Carley Fortune to write more books!

Loved this so much!

This is the perfect summer read!! The best part of the book was definitely the cottage setting. My family actually used to rent a cottage near Barrys Bay every summer for like 15 years so I could totally picture all the scenery and the town and everything!!

I also really liked the characters. They were all flawed which made them more realistic. I'm definitely a fan of the second chance/friends to lovers trope.

Best romance novel I’ve read in a while. - I have a difficult time finding one’s I like that aren’t too cheesy or melodramatic, or else I’m brought out of the story and have a hard time believing anything. However, this one was a nice vibe that didn’t stress me out or cringe me out too much! I think the summer lake setting and the choice to write the love story over time as the two mc’s grow up together felt relatively grounded and wholesome in an adorable way (until it wasn’t when Percy fucks up BIG TIME). Percy might be a terrible person, but I still really enjoyed reading this story so I suspended moral judgement. Second chance /friends to lovers is a wonderful combo. The forced proximity sleepover scene and the pickup scene were HOT.
