Great narrator. Informative without dragging out the details.

Did not love this. Too much seemed speculative--it gave the impression that Woodard didn't have enough to write about and had to add in filler to have a full book. This wasn't normal inferences drawn from historical documents, though, it was more of the details added in for the sake of storytelling value; "the air may have burned his nostrils as he stepped out" and other comments like that were unnecessary.

Excellently written and great at telling a story. I will be looking more deeply into the realiableness of various sources in the near future and will update this review as needed.

A great history of the pirates of the Caribbean. It tried to balance narrative with historical information and generally does a good job, however, some sections come off as very textbook like.

There are a lot of names and changing of names which can make it hard to follow who is who.
