Excelente narrativa, bastante fluida y amena aun con la cantidad de personajes y tiempos en los que transcurre la historia, en ningún momento se pierde la continuidad.

Las muertas narra la historia del conocido caso de "las Poquianchis", cambiando el nombre de los personajes y lugares; los hechos ocurrieron a mediados del siglo pasado, pero la historia bien podría situarse en época actual.
El trabajo periodístico de Jorge Ibargüengoitia plasma perfectamente el contexto de cada personaje, su respectiva relación y cómo se agrava la inestabilidad emocional de ellos con el tiempo. Asimismo, es imposible omitir el contexto político y socioeconómico en donde, como tantas otras veces, el descubrimiento policiaco fue más por azar que por deber.

This is a boring book. This is not in reference to the murders, but in so far as there is lttle to engage a reader. The characters are almost as flimsily constructed as the narrative.
I should have known. The introduction is by Colm Toibin, a writer I find sanctimonious and didactic. In the introduction he puts forward the notion that the text is in the form of police interviews. It isn't. The author was a journalist and this shines through. The slightly broken narrative more closely resembles disordered newspaper clippings.
There is little to recommend here. I couldn't even say the purpose of the book. Bad things happen? People are cruel? Or maybe just brothel owners are not necessarily good people?

Lo terminé en dos patadas (lo recibí ayer y lo terminé hoy) un libro tan atrapante que me hizo olvidarme de todos los demás que tenía en fila. Nunca me ha decepcionado Ibarguengoitia y pese a que es un tema terrible (uno de los más tristes en la historia del país) su manera de redactarlo es tan ameno que hace que lo pases genial leyéndolo.
