An entertaining read. The villains are ingesting and not what I come across in other books. It really scratched the itch of reading about castles, knights, and found family of sorts.

Main audience is clearly teen boys. Does not pass the Bechdel test, but was still very enjoyable.

Technically a re-read, very well done, very young teen book, very male-dominated. Still itched the nostalgia, though.

I really enjoyed this YA fantasy book. I'm trying to get my son to read it, but he says he's not in to "lords and swords." :-( Going forward, I will refer to books like this as in the genre of "Lords and Swords" because I actually love the description.
