Amie and Jay are masters of their craft!

This book is so good! I either need a sixth star or to take away a star from every book I've ever rated to do justice to how good this book is!

The pace is just right, the story is enticing, the characters and their backstories are being explored and revealed in a believable way, and the universe K&K created is one I wish wouldn't end with the next book.

I just lost interest to be honest. I can't even remember what this book is about.

I definitely enjoyed the book, but not as much as the first one. The characters were enjoyable, I liked that we saw Zila’s backstory and I enjoyed Finian and Scarlett as usual, but Aurora and Kal seem to fall flat for me. Tyler for me is in the middle. I feel like at the start of Aurora Rising it felt like he had a lot of potential, and he’s enjoyable because of his feelings towards Cat and his father too, but there’s something about him that doesn’t feel quite right. The revelation of Tyler and Scarlett having Syldrathi blood was interesting and surprising so I hope they detail that more. I found Aurora and Kal’s parts quite dull because I don’t see their chemistry or the full potential of their personalities. To me, they don’t really feel like a relationship, especially how quickly she was willing to make him leave the ship and then for her to discover that she still loves him. I don’t know, I just don’t see the romance. I wouldn’t mind a Scarlett/Finian romance as I like both of the characters, but I’m not sold on a potential Tyler/Saedii romance. I like her character and find her intriguing but I feel like a romance would change her current personality a lot which I don’t quite want. I feel like the events in this book were just a bridge between the first and final book of the set, but I still found it enjoyable and will be reading the last one shortly!

THAT WAS A MEAN AND UNFAIR CLIFFHANGER TO END ON and I loved it! This is one of the best sequels I've ever read, and it was so much better than the first book. They did a much better job at creating clear character voices, and it was a super enjoyable read.
