As it is the second week of 2022, I am officially almost done with reviewing all my 2021 books.

With Jaclyn Moriarty's books, it's either insta-love or torpid indifference. Unfortunately, this falls in the latter category. I couldn't care for the characters or the deus-ex-machina features. Totally skippable.

This book was such a delight! I adored The Extremely Inconvenient Adventures of Bronte Meddlestone and was so excited to see that there is now a sequel. I randomly picked up the first one at the library because of the beautiful cover and am so thankful that I did.

*spoilers below*

This book had the same magic charm as the first one. It took me a few chapters to get used to the storytelling and really draw me into the plot, but eventually I was hooked.

I was shocked and surprised at how Bronte and Alejandro were included! I did not expect that at all!

I also loved the details about the twins and about Anita and Prince Jakob at the end. And of course Sir Brathelthwaite. And Glim and her many new friends!

All in all without giving too much away it was very charming. I would definitely recommend giving this a read (but you’ll enjoy it more if you read the first one beforehand!).

So magical and beautiful! I love all of Jaclyn Moriarty’s books and this one was no exception. I loved the way it was part of the world of the previous Kingdoms and Empires book and brought us some of the great characters from that book, while also telling a completely new story and introducing a wonderful cast of new characters. It also has so much of the author’s characteristic humour and I had so many laugh out loud moments while reading it.

Such a delightful follow up/prequel to The Extremely Inconvenient Adventures of Bronte Meddlestone! I’m hoping there are more books in our future!
