Read this as a buddy read so using my comments as a review

Read through chapter 5

Spoiler
Anyone else going noo not the stylist.

The poor single women in town must struggle to find nice single men in a small town.

I'm enjoying this soo much already too. Yeah Dakota had the most drastic reaction to his childhood signing up for the military but maybe the reaction I understand the most. Hearing the bits about his background made me emotion. Very sweet and sad.

Yeah I like Sid. I think its somewhat understandable throwing herself into work. I imagine her husband wasn't that available as a medical student. Thats long hours also. And if shes footing all the bill... but yeah she must have been a little blind to not see any red flags.

I said Neely wasn't right from Sierras book. I'm wondering if shes going to try and claim rape.. thats my fear for him. Yeah it is a temper tantrum. The way she threw herself at him confused me. Like why would that be your reaction.

So read through chapter 11. Stopping myself so I don't finish this in one sitting... meant to go through chapter 10 but I some how missed I'd finished that chapter haha.

Spoiler
Yay so happy for Lola and Tom. They're so sweet.

Also happy for Connie & Sierra. Did either of you use the traditional vows and used the Obey part when you got married? My husband and I didn't. I'm 100% not the obeying the wife part and he was not going to let me say it regardless, but I understand its not been the thing to do for a while so kinda curious what you both did.

Are we going to get another romance or side story for the last sibling?? Quite curious to see her story even if its a side bit.

Sedona? I can't spell her name as I'm listening. How do you think she'll cope with her diagnosis? I'm going to reckon she'll call and need help. Where do you think she is?

Finished

Spoiler
I don't love how Bob spoke about her. "Perfect wife" I'm certain I don't fit that stereotype!
Didn't like how Dakota acted because she wanted to go back to work temporarily. Seemed a little possessive to me.
Yay thank god Dakota got the camera footage.

Oh my. Poor Sierra and Connie. That made me very sad. So glad they got it all sorted out. I knew it would work out just sad they had to go through that.

Would you guys give up a career like Sid's? I'm not sure I would to be honest.

Yeah I agree Laura, Carr has a wonderful way of being realistic but not negative. Its a balance she does very very well. I think its also realistic that they can't do much about Nealy aside from send her on. Unless she commits some big crime and gets jail time now much they can do.

The Family Gathering by Robyn Carr is a sweet, family-centric romance. This third installment in the marvelous Sullivan's Crossing series can stand on its own, but I highly encourage readers to read the previous books for important backstory.

Dakota Jones shocks his brother Cal and his sister Sierra with his unexpected arrival in Colorado. The former Army Ranger has not exactly kept in touch on a regular basis so no one in the family is aware of what has been going on with their brother recently. Since he rarely stays in one place for very long, Dakota surprises himself by renting a cabin and finding a job soon after coming to town. Even more astonishing, he strikes up a friendship with romance potential but their relationship is complicated by her trust issues and interference from hairstylist Alyssa and overly aggressive Neely Benedict.  An additional and very unanticipated complication arises when the siblings' sister Sedona comes to town sans family and they discover she, too, has not emerged from their tumultuous childhood unscathed.  Will this unforeseen drama send Dakota running? Or will it be the impetus he needs to finally put down roots?

Dakota joined the Army as soon he graduated from high school and rarely looked back. His sporadic visits to the family farm have gradually tapered off but he always kept in touch with his siblings. Following his surprising exodus from the Army, Dakota is ready to spend some quality time with his siblings but he is not quite ready to make a commitment to remain permanently in Colorado.  However, as he becomes more enmeshed in his siblings' day to day lives and their extended families, Dakota discovers walking away won't be as easy as it proved to be in the past.

Although he is not looking for a permanent relationship, Dakota is not averse to a no strings fling. The first woman who briefly catches his eye is Alyssa but she comes across as a little too desperate to hold his attention. Dakota next meets Neely whose hot and cold attitude is not exactly his thing and he quickly falls victim to her penchant for wreaking havoc once she realizes his interest lies elsewhere.

Dakota is quickly smitten by a very unexpected woman but she is not at all ready for a romance. His patience with her finally pays off when their easygoing friendship gradually tips into a physical relationship but she is wary of committing to anything other than a temporary fling.  Dakota is initially fine with the status quo but when his feelings for her deepen into something that looks a lot like love, will he convince her to take a chance on taking their relationship to the next level?

On the family front, the only sibling whose life is without complications is Cal. Sierra and her firefighter boyfriend are contemplating the next step in their relationship but are they ready for an even bigger change in their lives? Always considered the "normal" one, Sedona's life is nowhere near as perfect or untroubled as everyone else (including Sedona) assumed and she is finally forced to face her worse fears. Instead of running away from these  obstacles, Dakota surprises himself and his siblings by eagerly stepping into the fray.

The Family Gathering is an emotionally-charged, engrossing novel with a thought-provoking storyline and a lovely cast of colorful characters. Dakota is a wonderful lead protagonist and watching him make peace with his past while discovering what he wants for the future is incredibly gratifying. Robyn Carr keeps the story moving at a brisk pace as she wraps up a few dangling storylines from earlier works. With a great cast of characters, a hint of suspense and a delightful love story, old and new fans will find themselves charmed by this newest addition to the heartwarming Sullivan's Crossing series.

Another great book by this writer. I have to say she writes these small town series books very well and I always enjoy every story. Although each book is based on two main characters you still see a lot of everyone else from previous books in the series.

Oh, I loved this book; hmm do I say that about every Robyn Carr book??
LMAO maybe I do. But it doesn’t make it any less true.
This book had a lot of emotional elements and it just adds to the story. We get our past characters and I never feel like I miss them with each book that comes out. So we never miss out on what is going on. I love this!!

This book had Dakota he is a newcomer to town so he is sought after by a lot of the single women in the town. One gets a little out of hand…..

Overall a great addition to the series I neeeeed more. :)

Love Love Therese Plummer’s performance in every book she does, but I just have a soft spot for the way she narrates Robyn’s books.

Oh this book!!!! I NEVER cry at books and this one had me struggling. The surprise is that what I was emotional about wasn't even the main couple. What a Beautiful story! This family has stole my heart.
Dakota and Sid are another couple that were looking for something and they found it in each other. I loved that. What I am really enjoying about this series is that even though this is Dakota's book, it's only really half about him. We still get a complete story of what is going on with everyone else in the family and it's so perfect. Another book where Robyn Carr stole my heart with small town life!

As always the narration is PERFECT. Therese Plummer is my #1 favorite narrator. You would think that the Robyn Carr series would start to blend together since the narration is the same but for me it doesn't. That shows that she is amazing at her craft!
