is it fiction? is it memoir? is it auto-fiction?  i'll never know.

this is a fascinating and devastating account of the aftermath of a rape and the toll that losing ownership over your story can have.  i was intrigued by his decision to tell a good chunk of the narrative through his sister's recounting of the story to her husband while he eavesdrops on them.  i think it was a super effective narrative choice that exemplified the narrator's loss of control over his life.

and the fact that this is his second book and it was published when he was 23?  disgusting.

Okay so it was a good read; beautifully written, somewhat tenacious at times (especially the beginning). It was very hard to get into. I didn't get why the sister told most of a story she hasn't even lived herself. I got that she told the story from her pov and bringing light to the childhood that shaped her brother his interaction with his environment en the relationship he has with himself, but tbh i didn't feel this. I also felt like the ending was kinda meh. And considering the topics covered in this book (which are horrendous) didn't make me cry whatsoever tells a lot too I guess.
