i‘ve mixed emotions on how to rate the seven husbands of evelyn hugo. i was convinced that i wouldn’t pick it up - only because it’s not something i’d normally read but i loved it, i really did.
this book somehow manages to suck you in and does not let you go until the very last page. the writing is amazing and the characters in evelyn’s story felt very real.
monique didn’t convince me though. i get that there had to be some story around how and why evelyn finally decided to tell her lifestory but i couldn’t find any interest in monique and her life. her story felt out of place in comparison to everything else in the book that felt so real and honest.

This was a very, very good book. Everything about it was amazing and very  realistic, but it made me extremely frustrated because I felt like Evelyn could never catch a break. It was just one thing after another, and even at the end of her life it was still not the greatest. I definitely have mixed feelings about her and all of the other characters, but just once I wanted something good to happen and stay for awhile. Though, I guess that's Hollywood.

On another note , the wlw romance was absolutely amazing and I feel like the intimacy but also tbe struggles were depicted so well.

*edit*
why did i not give this 5 stars 😟 this book is my soul. i love this book so much. it is 100 percent one of my all time favorite books i have ever and will ever read.

✅ definitely reread material

Legendary Hollywood Star, Evelyn Hugo, is ready to let everyone know her true story. Her life was a lot more complicated than first meets the eye. When I tell you this book broke me, it really fucking broke me. I couldn't put the book down, it was so well written that I just wanted to keep reading.
Evelyn and Celia's relationship was so well written and the marriage scene towards the end made my heart beat out my chest it was just so amazing
Evelyn and Harry's relationship was so well written and I just loved it so much. There was absolutely nothing I did not like about this book, the contrasting emotions, the countless times I burst into tears reading this book. I would do it all again to read this for the first time again. No one is perfect and this book explains that so well and in a way you can truly understand. Taylor Jenkins Reid you have gone above and beyond my expectations (and they were already high). I recommend this book to everyone.

Wow…this book. Definitely one of my favorites I’ve read in a long time. Evelyn is an incredibly complex character. The book makes that clear and wow, do they deliver on that claim. At the beginning of the book, I struggled to understand the narrator and her importance but was absolutely sold by the end. This book is beautiful and heartbreaking and wonderful. I don’t know if calling it a romance encapsulates the book. It’s absolutely a sapphic story but it’s about love, grief, loss, pride, and pain as well. Would highly recommend , lives up to the hype!

when i started reading this book, i didn't expect to find myself crying for hours while finishing it.
it was so fascinating to learn about evelyn and her life, to be shown how morally gray of a character she is.
the writing along with the division into bite-sized chapters always left me wanting more, i didn't want to stop reading, even when i wasn't able to concentrate any longer.

side note: i almost cried reading the acknowledgements and how amazing is it that there's a reading group guide at the end of the book???
