Really good book. Reid manages to do what many directors and authors have, which is to capture the concept of fame as something that no one should want but simultaneously is still impossible not to desire. I find it incredibly unlikely that someone could ever recount their life (especially the life lived by Hugo) with the detail provided in this book, but it wouldn't be a great story without the detail. She also does a fantastic job creating this semi-fictional world in a way that made me feel like I should look it up because it must have been real. The book makes me want to reach out and grasp life to live it to the fullest extent, but I'm not sure I have it in me to do that.

This book might be one of the best books I’ve ever read. It’s full of drama and romance and love and lust and strength and resilience and manipulation but all of that leads to the full picture of Evelyn Hugo.

When I say I couldn’t put this down, I mean that I bought it as a poolside paperback to read when I got bored and ended up literally standing in the shallow end of the pool, holding this perilously close to the water’s surface and shielding it from sprays of chlorine just so I didn’t waste a moment not reading it.

A truly engrossing plot starring some of the most complex, relatable characters I’ve ever read. I LOVE Taylor Jenkins Reid’s writing. I love this book.

I love TJR’s writing style in that she really makes these celebrities feel like real people. Their lives feel so rich and full, the blog and news articles enhance and support this.
All of the relationships in the book are very different. The book shows that there are many different kinds of love even within a same category such as romantic how some are passionate, some are more friendship based.

I picked this up as everyone seemed to be raving about it, so I thought it would be good. For me, it wasn't. It was dull. I didn't care about any characters, the story was dull and uninspiring. I was able to finish it quickly, it wasn't a hard or heavy read. It just wasn't something I enjoyed. I'm not sure I'd read anything else by this author.

This book was everything and more. The way the author flashes between past and present is done beautifully. There is an obvious hook from the beginning as you try to decipher the main character’s motives, but once they become clear it makes the story even more powerful. This book wrecked me in the best way.
