This short book is a great introduction to a diverse selection of myths and legends. The myths are grouped more by topic than by origin or culture. The chapter titles are often humorous puns like "Theseus: The Highly-Strung Hero." The illustrations are beautiful and really add to the stories, helping readers imagine the Gods or magical items described in the story. This book is a perfect starting point for preschool-elementary aged kids interested in mythology and would be a fitting addition to library book displays for the summer reading theme this year.

Lots of great stories in this little book. Some of the pages were very dark, though, so the text was a little hard to read.
