Read this to my new nephew today. Not sure how I missed it before but a pretty cute book.

A beautiful and charming night-time book that gives a younger child a chance to identify and talk about zoo animals while preparing for bed. My son particularly enjoyed identifying where each of the animals appeared on each page and making the noises of the animals. I liked that "Good night" was repeated often enough to make it clear that the book was a precursor to our own nighttime routine.

As the zookeeper says goodnight to each animal, sneaky Gorilla, who has stolen his keys, lets them out. Soon a good-night-follow-the-leader game has begun, unbeknownst to the zookeeper!

A kid at storytime was looking at this book today and loved it, so I decided I should read it. Hilarious.

Another classic that still works today. I love the accessible pictures of the animals and the mischievous gorilla who is the book's protagonist. The relationship between the zookeeper and his wife is very sweet. My favorite part is when the zookeeper's wife takes Gorilla by the hand and leads him back to bed. He is so childlike and lovely.

Buying a copy of this one for my baby gorilla.

This book is after my time, but I was dimly aware of it as a cute book for little kids. I grabbed a copy when I was trying to find wordless or nearly wordless books to bring when we went to meet our kids. It worked perfectly. "Gorilla" was one of their first English words, and countless re-readings of it have shown me the charm and humor of the illustrations.

I rated this book with 5 stars purely because my daughter loves it so much. She brings it to me and has me read it over and over and over again. It has some great illustrations in it, too. Thanks to Imagination Library for sending us another wonderful book for my daughter and I to enjoy together! :)

Maybe not the greatest read-aloud book (I never know what to do--make up a story for the pages with no words? just let Forrest enjoy the pictures with no commentary?), but adorable nonetheless.

The one-year-old I babysat loved this book. I would usually "read" it two times in a row. There aren't very many words, so I would usually do some narrating too. "Do you see what that Gorilla is doing? Oh, that sneaky gorilla."
