I am not sure why this has such good reviews. I made it about 20% and gave up. I understand it is a specific type of horror and that is fine with me but it is so poorly written. It is cheesy and not in a camp good way. You can write a main character that is just disgusting but not have him seem so unrealistic. Hogg is a good example of how to do it right. This was just ew.

Jeez this guy could not catch a break. His wife thought he was weak and a coward, he was continuously humiliated and eventually so many other horrible things happened to him. Revenge is one of my favorite themes in either literature and film, its always incredibly satisfying to see it play out but so is the internal dialogue and conflict that goes on in a characters mind. While the revenge was insane, depraved and somewhat satisfying i somewhat still wish i could have heard more of the characters emotional turmoil. This is one thing that i always feel lacks in third person books. Overall a solid story with a good character, it was very gratifying to see him evolve and dispense gorey revenge on all those horrible people.

Yellow didn’t really connect with me. I found the extent of Oliver’s traumatic change to be rather unbelievable. The 180 flip to his personality from weak-kneed and servile to deranged sadist seemed too far fetched. I suspended disbelief throughout the novel to see where it went yet the plot failed to captivate me, feeling rather one-note. It lacked the suspense I’ve felt with other works by Beauregard.

First book to make me squirm in awhile! I loved this book. If I could give it 10 stars I would. If I could read it for the first time over and over again I would, no matter how painful the alien shit they would need for that would be. Ok maybe that was dramatic but WOW amazing.

Aron writes revenge like no one else! And this book was the perfect example. It had the perfect balance between storyline and gore! And the writing as usual was amazing!
