I have read two books by Fredrik Backman this year and I have loved both. I can’t wait to continue reading everything he has written.

Ove’s story is a sad one. At least, at first. But eventually his friends and neighbours help him realize there’s more to life than death, and Ove’s life has meaning.

I adored this book. As soon as I finished it, I immediately went to watch the film the next day and that BROKE me even more than the book did. Seeing the book come to life on a film was insane💔 The development of Ove in this book was incredible and the ending just had me in pieces. Seeing all of the characters come together to love Ove even when he finds it to love back was so heart-warming. Ove is the epitome of grumpy old man but his humour was unmatched🤣 I would say that this book is a lot more character driven than plot driven and this is something I don’t usually reach for but I ate this book up!!!

This book was sooo good!! I don’t really know how to organize my thoughts about it. Super emotional- it will have you laughing, smiling, and crying within a few pages of each other. It was just sweet to read a story about some old dude and his life and the people who he loved and who love him now. Each character felt very real and fleshed out, and the dialogue was fantastic. I couldn’t reccomend this book enough!! (aside from some content warning things)

a beautiful book about doing the right thing, even when it’s hard. And how doing the right thing can save you.
