David Baddiel does an incredible job of putting into context the continued anti-Jewish racist rhetoric that exists in both the digital and real world. He highlights how pervasive this long history of anti-semitism is, and really drives home the point of how easily it is dismissed as “not as bad” as other forms of racism. Although I was already aware of how malicious and prominent anti-semitism is, I think Baddiel explains in an brilliant level of detail (that still remains humorous and easy-to-read) why this anti-Jewish hate persists and how it continually sneaks through the cracks into all spaces. Amazing work and a must read.

Where do I even begin with this book? I won’t lie, I picked it up because it was short and I wanted a short read but holy hell. I want to recommend this book to everyone. Every progressive who has ever insisted that #JewsDon’tCount, every person who claims to stand for freedom - unless that freedom is for the Jews, everyone on Twitter who feels entitled to know every Jew’s opinion on Palestine. This book should be mandatory reading before you’re allowed to sign up for a Twitter account.
