This was my first book by the author and it certainly won't be the last!
This was such a gorgeous tale with absolutely loads of heart and intrigue.
Throughout the book we are taken on a journey with Posy across her life, we see her in current day and also read about her childhood during WW2 in flashback chapters which show how she has been shaped into the woman she is.
There are lots of other characters and we follow their arcs in the current day. There is certainly never a dull moment surrounding the montagues!
I did find a few elements frustrating, I am never a huge fan of the misunderstanding trope and a character not telling someone something really important for 'their own sake' this happened a couple of times and I didn't overly feel it was completely necessary for one of the storylines. But I can see why the author wanted it use it to build suspense.
However I loved the story telling, I loved the characters and if I'm anything like Posy when I'm 70 I will be very happy!

" For my mother-in-law, Valerie, with love.
.
Whenever I pick up a book of Lucinda's I have an expectation; which I know is unfair and irrational and and and but, I do. So opening this I was expecting one thing and got something else. Something more.
.
When you grow up princess of the butterflies and your dad king of the garden your days are filled with mud, sunshine and happiness.
.
Posy and her dad both loved nature so much she followed in his foot steps studying Botany at Cambridge, where she flourished alongside the foliage. She was of the 1st women to be at the prestigious university and fell in love with education and feminism and Freddie...

'Atmospheric, heart-rending and multilayered' - Grazia
.
I absolutely agree @Grazia. At the end I couldn't stop the tears from flowing. Yet another beautiful piece of work. What I love about Lucinda the most is, she is not selfish with the pages; It's all bulky 600+ pages me love that so much, thank you @lucindarileyofficial
