It was decent, and I was able to read it very quickly which was nice. But I was disappointed that everything supernatural had a rational explanation. And a chunk of the book dealt with my main anxieties - cancer and home intruders. So reading this book really messed me up, and not in a fun way. I don't like books that are excessively dark and tragic without the fun of spookiness keeping it from being too real. This was tough for me. 2 stars just cuz I didn't thoroughly enjoy it and it made me stressed in a not-fun way. Reading should be fun and enjoyable but this wasn't.

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 ~ Very good!

I picked this up because I needed a change of pace in terms of genres. Something spooky and haunting was calling me, and No One’s Home definitely delivered! So much so that I couldn’t read this too late, and I for sure felt uneasy walking around my house in the dark if I did! It has also inspired me to watch Haunting of Hill House finally (thank you D.M Pulley because I’ve been meaning to for ages).

What really drew me in to this story wasn’t so much the characters, but the house itself and its history. It was super interesting, and I enjoyed reading about the different families who had lived in the house over the years. I liked the jumps backwards and forwards in time as it kept the story intriguing.

The twist was an interesting choice, and I like how the ending came back around full circle. Yes it was a little cliché, but it was fun and spooky! Overall, an enjoyable read. I recommend to do so in the autumn, despite having read it in spring! It had the same effect either way

This was the best haunted house story I've ever read! It was brilliant, interesting, with a really beautiful ending.

I was going to give this 5 stars until about 60% through and a major twist happened, one I, personally, found disappointing. The ending was pleasant enough to save it from being a 3 star rating but not enough to capture the atmosphere and horror of the rest of the book. Overall a brilliant and enjoyable experience, even with the twist I still had a great time reading it! The plot and feelings it gave me will surely stay with me.

From time to time I’ll do a blind grab at the library in hopes of reading something I never would’ve found otherwise.

It ended up being a haunted house book this time around, so nothing new. I did end up enjoying it far more than I expected and was surprised with the turn it took. The characters were a little unlikeable, but I think that was the point. Overall, an enjoyable time with some creepy and effective moments.
