I thought their relationship wouldn’t be so insta-lovey & evolve as quickly as it did so that was a bummer to read. I also assumed the book would have darker themes and be slow to medium paced, but it read more as an erotica with very slight mafia affiliation mentions than anything.

I picked this up because I needed a quick palate cleanser to stave off a massive book hangover after finishing three intense fantasies only to find myself in said hangover because this book was so amazing.

First and foremost the banter?! Top notch. I loved Nat and Sloane’s friendship maybe even a smidge more than the romance. It seems like in romances especially that a best friend is thrown in as a formality because the main character needs some kind of personality outside of their relationship with the love interest but not here! Their friendship felt so natural and real (which makes me even more excited to read Sloane’s story).

This book was so fast paced and intense but still had a lot of heart. Nat’s pain felt real and heavy. It also deals with tough themes like suicidal ideation so please check trigger warnings.

My only complaint is that I wanted more POVs from Kage. I will say I liked how separated Nat was from all the mob stuff until the end, I was fine just focusing on them and less about the politics of mob life but that gave us less Kage. All that said, I am still going to devour this series I can’t believe I slept on it for so long!

Read this series a couple years ago and had to reread because it’s so good.

It might not be classical literature but I love their chemistry and this series.

Now, mafia romances are definitely hit or miss, especially when you're looking for a good plot amongst the smut but I fucking loved this book. Hands down best mafia romance I've read so far, and my first book from J.T. Geissinger.
A hefty dose of filthy smut *chefs kiss* and a mafia plot that was actually interesting! Natalie & Kage, my gods, their love story - couldn't help but 'awe', laugh, and even shed a tear at it. Nat & Sloan, bloody hilarious, adored their friendship.
It was maybe a tiny bit predictable, could guess what their HEA would be, but I did really appreciate the closure in the end for Nat
with David, the fucking bastard, argh
and enjoyed it nonetheless.
Not sure if this one will be everyone's cup of tea but I loved reading it (now off to read Sloan's story - fuck yes, our girl deserves her own love story).

One of the best dark mafia romances I've read.  Very spicy.  Hard to put down.
