(Audio book review. Narrated by Sean Crisden) Short, sweet story. Nice plot/sex balance. I love Sean Crisden's voice. My only complaint is that the story was too short, only three hours long. Quite a bit happened in those three hours, and the ending was at a good place to break at, with no cliffhangers or unanswered questions, but I would really like to know what comes next. It just felt incomplete.

Great writing, knights in shining armour, hot smexing...what more could I ask for? Further adventures of Richard and William, perhaps!

I don't have a second-rate-gay-porn shelf, do I? Anyway, this wasn't as bad as I expected it to be, but it definitely was a solid m/m-genre case of making me wonder why people buy the pornographic cow when there are so many places to get the pornographic milk for free. There was like, a modicum of research that went into this one, I suppose. But surely that's not what anyone is paying for.

I liked this one well enough but I think something was missing for me to completely love it.
I used to love historical M/F romances and I sort of expected a hint of them in this one but it was nothing like it.
MM historical romances always fall short for me, I expect more cautiousness from the MCs, more apprehension, more soul-searching etc. In M/F historical romances I am more interested in books where the couple is in a less that ideal situation and I expect it to be obvious in MM historicals but they just get to it with little care for society something that I would have thought would be harder especially with the relationships being illegal.
This book was short, so that may be why the relationship seemed rushed.
I still loved the story, it had no angst and was simple enough.
Sean Crisden is an awesome narrator and does a great variation of accents and voices. The French accent made me laugh by how ridiculous it sounded but still fun.

I loved this historical romance novella. It's a quick and easy read, and the main characters have good chemistry. Can recommend :)

A remarkably well-written and enjoyable read. While historically accurate, the book still is not bogged down with characters struggling with unnecessary, tedious issues of self-doubt or self-loathing in terms of their homosexuality. I liked both William and Robert, and was pleased with their story from being to end.

Squire William Raven is focused on becoming a knight. It’s his only goal in life. When his lord, Sir Robert de Cantilou comes back from the Crusades, William is determined to impress his lord. William soon captures Sir Robert’s attention – on the training field and in the bedroom. Then William finds himself pulled into court intrigue and must figure out a way to save the life of his lord and lover.

The characters were well written and their actions made sense for the time period. There was a strong attraction and connection between Robert and William, which was enhanced by William’s transition from squire to knight. The ending was happy and romantic for the time period. I found this book enjoyable and a nice change of pace from other romances I’ve read.
