Yorum yazmak için bekledim ama hala cümleleri toparlayamıyorum. Kitabı sevdim mi ona bile emin değilim ama gerçekten çok etkilendim.
Lise yıllarından bu yana Orhan Pamuk okumamıştım. O zamanlar yazarı pek anlayamadığımı, kaleminin bana hitap etmediğini düşünmüştüm. Sanırım üzerinden geçen seneler ve yaşanmışlıklar bu kitaptan gerçekten etkilenmemi sağladı.
Okuduğum süre boyunca Kemal’e kızdım, söylendim; yer yer sıkılıp bunaldım, yer yer hüzünlendim. Neredeyse son bölümlere kadar hiçbir karakterle bağ kuramadığımı, tarif edilen aşkı anlayamadığımı düşündüm. Ama son bölümlerde bir bakmışım ki ağlıyorum.
Kemal’in saplantı derecesinde aşık olduğu Füsun’u daha iyi tanımak, anlamak isterdim. Onun bakış açısını da öğrenebilseydik keşke.
O dönemin İstanbul’u, batılılaşmaya çalışan ama bir yandan geleneksel düşüncelerinden sıyrılamayan İstanbul’un elit kesimi çok güzel anlatılmıştı.
Normalde uzun betimlemelerden sıkılan biri olmama rağmen anlatılan her mekan, her detay film izliyormuş gibi gözümde canlandı.
Bir sonraki İstanbul ziyaretimde ilk gideceğim yerlerden biri Masumiyet Müzesi olacak kesinlikle!

Have you ever read a book that shows so much promise in the beginning, invites you in with its beautifully weaved yarn, and then as you reach the middle becomes so pathetic that you want to fling the book to the other side of the room and scream why? Well, that's exactly how I would describe my experience with this book.
I was lured in with the beautiful description of Turkey in the 1970s. It was like peeping into an old photo album evoking the nostalgia of beautiful moments of the past. The liberal and glittering Istanbul caught in the middle of the east and the west. The life of the beautiful and cultivated Turkish rich and a love story between it all. But, towards the middle, the sad story of the lead character and his unending self-pity got just too much for me. Like, the drunk uncle at a party who insists that everyone keeps listening to his sob-story which started nowhere and you know will lead nowhere.
I am sure, that if I persevered more, maybe I would have found some beautiful turn in the story, but after 400 pages, my patience ran too thin to keep going.
However, don't go by my words. Try it for yourself and if you find that beautiful turn, do let me know.

أخطأت باختيار هذه الرواية لتكون أول قراءاتي لأورهان باموق. رواية سخيفة جدا و مليئة بالأحداث السطحية و الوصف المملل جدا. الفكرة العامة هي وصف حال المجتمع التركي في فترة السبعينيات و انقسام المجتمع ما بين هجر العادات و التقاليد و التعاليم الاسلامية و تقبل العلمانية و الأفكار الغربية بداعي الحضارة و الحداثة.

Hayatımda okuduğum en psikopat karakterlerdendi sanırım. Nefret ettim adamdan. Kadının sigaralarını toplamak kaçıncı seviye cidden? Bu kitabın iyi bir kitap olarak değilde toksik ilişki adı altında okunması gerekiyor. Neler yapmamalıyız el kitabı gibi. Adamın bütün karakteri kırmızı bayrak
