Adopting a whole food plant based diet will change your life but there are better books out there on the subject. This is basically cliff notes and biographies of the doctors and speakers in the forks over knives documentary.

Get these books instead:
1. The forks over knives plan
2. How not to die

Really not a lot to this book - about 50 pages of why people should eat vegan, some pages about people who switch to the lifestyle and doctors behind it, then about 150 pages of recipes. Some of the recipes do look worth trying though.

A compacted overview the film, which I found very informative. I didn’t learn anything new from the book but the 125 recipes are great! So good to have cookie recipes which are refined-sugar free. Loads of recipes that I will try, and uncomplicated wholesome ingredients.

This is one time where I will say to watch the movie first. The information is more easily digested that way. BUT, it does have some fantastic recipes and tips for getting started!

There is no new info in the book if you've seen the documentary; however there are a lot of good recipes.

Maybe I would feel differently if I watched the film, but I found this to be lacking in any real substantive information, and oddly organized & sort of annoyingly condescending in tone to boot. But the recipes (which comprise the majority of the book) seemed promising, and I might adjust my rating if they turn out particularly well.

We've seen the documentary, and since we have decided to try to move to a more plant-based whole food diet, Dave thought I should read the book. It says pretty much the same thing as the movie, but it does include lots of recipes.
