The book was solid. I really enjoy Hermann Hesse’s writing on average. The vocab remains a key point in return visits. Beneath the Wheel was a subtle questionnaire about why you do something, what expectations are your own, and “wait, what is a ‘purpose’?” Following a scholarly boy who is navigating bottled futures, we learn about catching up with ourselves eventually. Where is there joy and where is there sadness?

When a tree is polled, it will sprout new shoots nearer its roots. A soul that is ruined in the bud will frequently return to the springtime of its beginnings and its promise-filled childhood, as though it could discover new hopes there and retie the broken threads of life. The shoots grow rapidly and eagerly, but it is only a sham life that will never be a genuine tree.

Una crítica al sistema educativo (de hace más de 100 años, pero que también serviría para hoy) y las consecuencias que tiene limitar a los jóvenes, obligándoles a asumir responsabilidades que aún no pueden soportar y a tomar decisiones que todavía no están preparados para tomar.

Aunque el libro me ha parecido que está bien escrito, carece de complejidad y no ha conseguido dejarme poso alguno.

i get was hesse damit ausdrücken und in eine Geschichte bringen wollte (vor allem die autobiografischen Züge sind so spannend) aber die Storyline ansich war bisschen lost muss ich sagen. aber ich liebe einfach wie hesse schreibt und welche Themen er aufs Papier bringt; es sind immer welche, mit denen man sich auf irgendeine art und Weise identifizieren kann. aber leider viele frauenverachtende/sexistische Bezeichnungen... das muss man aber warscheinlich leider der Zeit zuschreiben. trotzdem muss das Buch dann natürlich auch mit mehr Sorgfalt gelesen und reflektiert werden
