Great message

This is a great book! It teaches kids not only that it is okay to be different, but above all else it is important to be kind. There is nothing more that i can hope for than my children living this message out in their daily lives.

Spaghetti in a hot dog bun tells the story of having courage to be different and the strength to be kind. Simple illustrations and a straightforward plot move the discussion of kindness along easily.

I would read this to my kids, probably own it, but wouldn’t reread it all the the time.

Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun is a powerful story about following your heart and having the courage to be who you are. I love the message of understanding , acceptance and kindness shared in the story.

Sweet Lucy is different from the other children : she has beautiful and wild curly hair, and her favorite lunch is Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun. Most of the other kids are her friends and accept her difference. But Ralph is a bully and enjoys making fun of her. Of course Lucy is sad and scared, but despite these feelings, she chooses to make the good choices and do what she thinks is right.

The art is truly adorable, and I really love the strong message of the book !

We read this in class this week, and my kids loved it. It was a great book to begin the school year with, and to introduce our theme Getting to Know you. A story about being proud of who you are no matter what and being a good person.

A bit didactic but I liked this book for the conversations it can springboard.

Overall, it’s a cute enough book, with bright, cheery illustrations and a good message. And I do like Lucy.

There are hardly words to describe how much I love this book. Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun is the story of a young girl who is a bit different from many of her classmates. She has curly brown hair and eats spaghetti served in a hot dog bun for lunch. Her classmates make fun of her for both of these traits. She is especially teased by a young boy who does not accept her. Her father talks with her and helps her see that she is wonderful the way she is and that she should not let someone else bring her down. As it turns out, the bully she is dealing with may need her help in the future.

This book is truly about being yourself and staying true to your family values and customs, even if they are not accepted by your peers. People are afraid of what they do not understand, but that does not mean things others do not understand is wrong. Lucy, the main character, learns to remain true to who she is and not be affected by others.

This is a great book for helping children be okay with their unique qualities. It also provides a model for how to handle bullying in a respectful way. This is a great book to use in a classroom setting to help begin a conversation about differences in cultures and customs.

Thumbed through this real quick at work before we sent it back to the supplier. Cute, if not a but cliche.
