I love reading about Jake as a lawyer!! This was a true John Grisham book and took me right back to the town where A Time To Kill was based! The ending was a bit lackluster for me as I hate loose ends, but who knows maybe a second trial will come!

Week 45 Book 74
A Time For Mercy by John Grisham
Rating: 3/5
After a couple of duds, finally Grisham is back in action. His latest book featuring one of his most popular characters, Lawyer Jake Brigance, is reminiscent of his earlier, critically acclaimed work. I was missing the old Grisham and I'm glad he is back.
While the plot, characters, setting, etc are interesting, the book is very long - almost 500 pages! It could have been tauter, shorter. Also, the ending was not very satisfying, perhaps he set up stage for a sequel. Hence the lower rating. Nevertheless, this one was much better than his last couple of books, I stayed up late at night to finish it in the middle of the week! If you're a Grisham fan, you'd wanna read this one!

Jake Brigance third Installment
I had high expectations for This book given the highly positive reviews it received however it didn't raise to the bar. While I enjoyed living with Jack in this trial, I was hoping for more given Mr. Grisham's masterful talent and craftsmanship.

The series is now three novels long. 1 and 3 are 5 stars in my book. 2 is just ok but 3 is good enough to make it very worth reading.

After my last Grisham, I was really pleased to find this one so much more enjoyable. Jake is a great character and I enjoy reading how he works and performs in court and for his clients.
