I laughed, I cried and I clutched this book to my chest, my heart aching when it was over. The way these characters snuck up on me, making me fall in love without even noticing is a lot like how Jonah and Calla fell for each other. Ugh. Such a good read as are all of Tucker's novels ❤

✦Series: Wild # 1
✦POV: Single (FMC) first-person
✦Spice: Low/ Closed door
» The Simple Wild really took me by surprise. This author is new to me, and it was a book club pick that I hadn’t heard of before. I liked it much more than I expected to.
» The plot was compelling and dramatic; Calla’s relationship with her father was badly damaged when she was young and it slowly, organically strengthened the longer she chose to stay in Alaska.
» Calla was a strong character and super relatable. When she hurt, I could feel it and I wanted so badly for her to have some happiness. Her growth was clear by the end of the story and really satisfying.
» Not having Jonah’s perspective made it difficult to love him in the beginning but it didn’t take long to understand that he was a textbook cinnamon roll. He started as a bully and then we start to see how lovable and utterly swoon-worthy he is.
✩ Honourable mention: Three cheers for planes which are named after Archie characters!

"There's something about those guys that work up there. I can't explain it. I mean, they're crazy, landing on glaciers and mountain ridges, flying through whiteouts. They're like..." Her eyes search for words within my walls. "Sky cowboys."

♡ This reminded me that sometimes reading a book that has never even touched your radar can have a great outcome. I enjoyed The Simple Wild, and I hope you will too!

This is my first KA Tucker book, and it won’t be my last. The last part of the book is where it really hit its stride. That ending! Tears. So many tears.
