I would say it was 5-star if only we were not robbed of a good ending. Don't get me wrong, it's all happy and good... but it felt like Sparks was in a hurry to turn this in and didn't give a proper closure to the characters.

Alex just gave Katie the letter and no further reassurance of how their relationship will pick up from there on—with the kids being traumatized and the store needing rebuild, etc. It's not enough for him to simply say his feelings haven't changed.

Katie as Erin... will she ever be that person again? How will Larry Feldman react knowing what she did? Shouldn't she also face charges for identity theft?

Kevin just died like that? A quick and easy death? No consequences for the years he beat up Erin. Alcohol and a gun. What a shame. I would've loved to see him behind bars really.

Also, can we please give women some friends? Nur eine einzige Bezugsperson, die nicht der Love interest ist? Bitte?

Easy read and enjoyable. Some flat characters without much characterization. Liked Katie/Erin. Wished the ending was a little different and focused on couple.

I am not saying this is a bad book, but I am saying, that I now have a new pet peeve when it comes to romances;
Why is the man with kids ALWAYS a widower? Why can't authors leave the poor wives alone? The idea seems so silly to me, because it is so overused, and I would love for once that it was just an ordinary divorce with a still-existing, normal ex-wife. But apparently nothing is sexier than nuclear families, I guess?
In general I was a bit annoyed throughout the book. I hated the heroine's new BFF - she was a very two-dimensional character and annoying.
I honestly felt really irritated by the plot twist in the end. It was so overdone and cheesy.
What I did like was the flashbacks to the heroine's history and the bad guy's POV. The book was also pleasently fast paced and the point of no return exciting.
But it was not enough to make me particularly like this book. Again not a bad book, but it was definitely not what I hoped for, and now I am ready to quit on Nicholas Sparks forever.
